Here are a few shots Ian Battrick riding his Doc Aviso over at a slab in Scotland. I can not say enough about how hard this guy charges. Be it freezing cold Scottish slabs, even colder Artic wonders or warm water reef passes in Indo, Ian puts in his time and it seems to be paying off. What blows my mind is how some of the heaviest chargers out in the water are some of the most soft spoken individuals on land. Ian is one of those guys from what I have seen. Not big on the BS, just says whats on his mind, and that usually has something to do with getting barreled…

Ian Battrick profile in Wavelength
Grab a copy of the new Wavelength Magazine and check out the profile on slab hunter Ian Battrick. Ian is a well grounded, hard charging nomad from Jersey (UK), and it is great to see him getting some love in the mags these days. I do not have a copy of the article yet but I will be back with the full story as soon as I do. For now here are a few shots of Ian, as well as a link to some of the extras that did not make the article…

Ian slab hunting in Canada with Timmy Turner a few months ago. How is that section he is about to backdoor!
Is Black the new Green? Yes it is!
Ian Battrick just sent us over a copy of the Aviso profile in the new January/February 2010 issue of The Surfers Path! It features a sick shot of Ian slab hunting over in Scotland, as well as an interview with Aviso president John Omohundro. Check back soon for the full interview…

Ian Battrick deep in the wilderness…
Check out these shots of Ian Battrick`s recent trip to Canada with the Turner brothers!

Also here are a couple of quotes from the trip I pulled of the SurfersPath website…
“Every morning and night we had bears all over the place, on occasion even coming right into our camp. One night we even had a cougar fight happening outside our tents. In the water there were killer whales, sea lions, seals, whales… The place is so alive. It’s basically like an Attenborough documentary but with you in the middle of it.”
Sound like fun? Oh yeah, here is another one…
“We were there for three weeks and the first eight days were totally dead flat. Then on the first good day we had, Timmy hit the reef hard pulling into one at low tide, cracking a few ribs and splitting his helmet open. ”
Definitely not a trip for the faint of heart! Check out the rest of the shots below and more on the trip here…

Ian Battrick blowing up in the Mags…
Ian Battrick has been blowing up in the mags lately from the UK to the good old US of A. Ian is a great guy, and pretty much a true hellman from the shots I have been seeing of him lately. Be it cold water slabs close to home, or warm water reef passes miles away, Ian is always on point and on his Aviso!
Check out part of this email he just sent over yesterday…

Aviso in Europe
Check out this update we just got from our man Alex over in Europe…
“The European continent is coming into autumn, its best time of year. Here in France the sandbanks are good, the mornings are cold and the waves have been pumping. The WCT started yesterday. Kelly did his normal trick against Tim Boal in the first heat of round 2, knocking the Frenchman out. Tim will be on the WCT next year so he should get his chance for revenge. As a lot of people pass through for a piece of the famed French beach breaks, Ian Battrick has been seen blowing up on his Doc Lausch Aviso’s with some magazine exposure for his efforts. Watch out for Ian seeking out more remote destinations as the thicker swells start to fill in around the European continent. So now to see if anyone can slow down Slater here in Europe…… “
