Yesterday I picked up the plugs for three new Cole Grasshoppers that will be used to design the models in Aviso`s Carbon Fiber Technology. We will be offering the Grasshopper in three sizes to start (a 5`7, 5`9 and 5`11). It will come with 5 fin boxes allowing you to ride it as a quad or a thruster or even a twin, allowing all sorts of options.
Cole`s most popular model, the Grasshopper!
The Cole Grasshopper is a full outlined, semi-fish version of his world renowned Firefly model. It has very low entry rocker, and a moderate amount of kick out the tail. The board also features a unique double wing bat tail which allows the board to be wider at the fins for quick acceleration and drive, and then pull in quickly for more holding power on tight turns. This board absolutely flies through and over sections in small to medium size surf. The Grasshopper should probably be ridden around 4-6 inches smaller than your standard shortboard (depending on the surfer).
Robo showing off the double wing bat on the Grasshopper. This was the model Robo was riding all last winter around town.
The first boards should be ready in September. Get your orders in now so you don`t have to wait in line. Email us at info@avisosurf with any questions or contact one of our international distributors and they would be happy to help you out. Have a great day!

Here are a few shots of our man Naki and crew out in Hawaii tearing it up on their Aviso BD3`s designed by Cole Simler in San Clemente, CA. The BD3 (Trunkboard) is the ultimate summer stick, and an amazing addition to any quiver. Get one now and you will be enjoying it for years to come…

Here are a few pictures I took yesterday down at Cole`s shop. He had just finished shaping the 5`5 Fireblade and I got there just in time to get some shots of him signing off on it…

Then later this afternoon it was off to Pacific Seafood Grill, off Palizada, to visit my friend George. If you are in San Clemente drop by and check it out. Amazing Ahi wraps, homemade chips and Salsa, Chowder, Plate lunches and more!
New Smyrna Beach is kind of like the San Clemente of the East Coast, which is probably why some of my favorite people on the right coast come from this little drinking town with a surfing problem. Here are two of NSB`s favorite sons riding there carbon fiber Aviso`s. The first shot is of John Perkins on his 5`10 Cole Firefly, and the second is of Casey Collins (sorry for the typo Collins!) riding his 5`6 Lost RNF down in South Beach. Also check out their latest video collaboration Mealticket, you wont regret it…

Just got a copy of the latest issue of Blue Magazine from my good friend Taro over at NakiSurf. I went by Cole`s shop to show it off and ran into Carlson along with Robo and Cole. Here are a few shots I took in the shop and a few of the magazine as well.
They did a very nice article on Aviso in there materials section, as well as a a profile on Christian Wach`s trip over to Japan a few months back. Below are some shots from the Aviso article, and please check back soon for more on the Sea Wach profile…

Small but clean this morning, looks like we should have waves for the weekend as well!
Here are some more shots of I took of Cole over the weekend with the 6`1 Aviso Fireblade.
Cole finished shaping the board last week and after making sure that it passed all his inspections he handed it over to me so that it could be taken up to the factory to begin tooling this week. Cole is such a perfectionist that he shaped the board multiple times, and spent countless hours fine tuning it to pass even his rigorous standards.
The finished product looks truly amazing, I am so proud that we are going to be offering the complete line of Fireblades before the holidays! Check back soon for the first 6`1 in Aviso Technology…
Making sure the rocker is perfect. This board has a super flat rocker for insane speed!
