I was hanging out at Cole`s shop for a bit today going over some new designs with him when our good friend and Cole team rider Ryan Carlson dropped by! Carlson is fresh off his big win of $25,000 over the weekend in the SponsorMe video challenge. He is off to New York soon for the Unsound Pro trials so wish him luck. Also keep your eyes peeled for shots of him riding his 5`11 Cole Aviso Grasshopper!

More Hayato on the Grasshopper!
Here is a sweet sequence of Hayato Maki riding his Aviso Grasshopper in North Chiba. Designed by Cole Simler here in San Clemente, the Grasshopper has been insanely popular since its introduction a few years back. Basically it is a shorter version of his ever popular Firefly design, which caters toward the trend of shorter wider boards being ridden lately.

Japan goes off!
Yeah Carlson!!!
Congratulations to our friend and Cole team rider Ryan Carlson for his big win yesterday in the Sponsor Me video contest. Carlson is one of the most under rated surfers out there and its great to see him walk away with the top spot and a cool 25 grand as well. THe waves were really fun again today and there should be more tomorrow . Nothing like summer time in Southern California!
Doc with the New Toy, Surf is up in Cali!
Here is a quick shot of master shaper Doc with the very first 5`5 Doc Aviso New Toy! This board is such a fun model, I highly recommend it for those less than perfect days when you want something a little wider and shorter with a pretty flat rocker. Perfect for those average days at your local beach break. The swell has been on the rise and was pretty solid around town this afternoon. Its great to have a little hurricane surf in our window, lets hope he turns back toward the coast and things could get really interesting. Be back with more tomorrow…
Swell on the rise in California
It was a picture perfect day today here in San Clemente with clean conditions throughout most of the day. There was actually a really heavy marine layer this morning but once that burnt off it was mid seventies and beautiful glassy water for the rest of the day. The surf was a bit on the small side but still really fun and some bigger sets before dark so hopefully we will have a little more size tomorrow. Get out there and enjoy it!
Typhoon Swell in Japan!
Naki has been scoring the last few days over in Japan thanks to the recent run of typhoon swell. He is over on one of the south islands right now and from the looks of it I could think of a lot worse places to be. Some of these islands can be notoriously fickle but add a little swell and it could pass for Hawaii, except with even clearer water if you could imagine…
