The Cave Singers

Check them out if you have not heard them yet. They have been playing a bunch of hip festivals lately and one of my friends turned me onto them a little while back. Good song for a dark and dreary Sunday here in California as we await the coming storm…

Lost Giants

Another sad day for surfing this week. We lost another giant up at Mavericks. I don’t think people realize just how heavy that wave is. My friend Jake almost lost his life there last month (spent 2 days in a medically induced coma after being found face down) and now this. My heart goes out to his family and friends…

Late season NW

We have been seeing a good run of NW swell this week, which is a little unusual this late in the season. Surfers here are not complaining however, and still it looks like more to come for at least the next couple of days and perhaps beyond. The latest round has been very spot selective, so a little driving might be in the cards if you want a piece of the pie. Also with the tides and morning sickness the last few days, look for better waves to be had in the late morning and afternoon tomorrow.

Lost Coast of California

Made my way back down the the majestic Central Coast of California and was once again blown away by its rugged beauty. It amazes me how much the population thins out north of Point Conception. There are so many waves to be explored up there it is insane. All you need is a little time and swell, and unlike Southern California you almost wish you had someone to surf with sometimes. Not always though…

Up north again

Got some fun waves up in Santa Cruz today. Lots of surf up and down the coast of California right now, and things are still looking good for this week…

Northbound and Down

With all the madness lately I had to get off the grid and head up North for a few days. Most of the California coast is seeing a good run of swell right now, and it looks to continue into next week at least. Got some fun waves today at a little reef/point break that will go unnamed here. Back with more tomorrow…

Clean and fun at the Pier

Got some fun waves around noon today down at the San Clemente Pier. The surf was in the 2-4 foot range and quite peaky, with a few little bowls out there. Tomorrow should be a beautiful day but you might want to pull out the log or a fish if you are planning on getting in the water, the swell will most likely be dropping fast…
