Here are a few shots that I have been meaning to put up from Johnny`s trip up north last weekend… The coast up there is truly amazing. If you have the drive you can score perfect surf with no other people out, you just have to brave the temps and know where to look. There are places yet to be discovered out there, just keep searching…
I hooked up with Dave Woods down in North County this afternoon and snapped off a few shots down at the harbor in Oceanslime. The waves were tiny but there is an insane sandbar off the south jetty ever since they opened up the rivermouth a few months back. Hit it up if you get a chance but make sure you bring your Aviso (and get your shots!)…
Check out the shot of Nils on his 5`5 AVISO RNF from the Ryan Gamma portfolio up on surfermag.com today…
Also here is a shot I snapped off at ROTP this afternoon. There were a few waves coming through but the swell was definitely dying. I hear its going to be small all week in so cal so go get it while you can!
If your a surfer in California you probably know a little bit about the hype that has surrounded the last few swells. Some of us scored, but most of the people I talked to just burned fossil fuel up and down the coast all weekend, then had to hear stories about how good it was Monday while they were grueling away at work. If you want the facts, check the buoy readings. They are pretty straight forward, and seldom have hidden motives (like hiking views to sell ads). Anyway here are the buoys for Friday evening around 9pm, check it out and plan accordingly…
